PHYSICAL ACTOR TRAINING – AN ONLINE A-Z

Physical Actor Training: an online A-Z was a two-year Leverhulme-Trust funded research project led by Professor Paul Allain to develop an audio-visual resource and website which was published by Methuen Drama Bloomsbury in July 2018.

Professor Paul Allain with the A-Z trainees – Olaf, Mara, Hannah, Antonio, Emma and Nouf (2017)

Stacie’s role as Research Associate was to manage the production of the project, filming alongside Peter Hulton (Arts Archives) and to lead the post – production of over 60 films that formed the A-Z.

As part of the project she also led experimental digital workshops which were primarily developed as a tool for investigating bet practice in the recording of training processes. Over time these digitally focused workshops became ‘Digital Studios’ a process where digitally technology was incorporated into the training space as a tool for documentation, creative exploration and reflection.

Stacie and Paul shared the project in practical workshops and talks at RCSSD (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama), the European theatre perspectives symposium in Wroclaw, Poland, (ETP), the International Platform for Performer Training (IPPT) and TaPRA 2017.
